ONGAKU Festival

ONGAKU Festival

For this project, I developed an eye-catching trailer to promote the ONGAKU festival, a unique cultural exchange event featuring Japanese and Canadian musicians. The video needed to capture the essence of the festival: the blending of traditional Japanese instruments with contemporary experimental music.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

Client: Thin Edge New Music Collective (TENMC)

Objective: Create an engaging introduction video/trailer for ONGAKU, a three-day festival celebrating Japanese and Canadian contemporary and experimental music.

Concept: Utilize reaction diffusion algorithms on the Processing platform to create visuals that reflect the fusion of traditional and contemporary elements in the festival's music.

To achieve this, I employed reaction diffusion algorithms using the Processing platform. This technique allowed me to create organic, evolving patterns that visually represented the interplay between traditional and modern elements in the festival's music.

Mesmerizing black-and-white reaction-diffusion patterns evoke ink blots and digital sharpness, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with contemporary digital art. Festival information is seamlessly woven into the evolving patterns. Synchronized snippets of participating artists' music with visual elements.

The trailer effectively captured ONGAKU's spirit, boosting social media engagement and ticket sales. It demonstrated my ability to blend innovative digital techniques with cultural sensitivity, appealing to both traditional and experimental music enthusiasts.
